I've got a 2002 F-250 diesel and have noticed when i go to work my transmission warms up as usual, doesn't go above half or so on the stock trans-temp gauge, but when I come out to my truck at the end of the day, 8 hours later, and turn the key on, while waiting on the glow-plugs to warm up i notice that the trans-temp gauge is still registering temperature, should I be concerned or is this normal?
If your wondering because it caught your eye I would say don't put much faith in the stock trans temp guage. If your wondering due to maybe seeing an issue arise,I would get a good aftermarket trans temp guage due to the fact that stock trans temp guages aren't very accurate.Just my.02 worth...
Even if you don't plan on modifing your truck seriously consider getting the trans, boost and pyro gauges, not only good for real time temps but for diagnosing problems, their worth their weight in gold IMO.
when i order my gauges where would be the best place to install the trans temp sending unit?
There is a Test port on the drivers side of the transmission pan. Take out the bolt and replace it with the sender which will be wired back to your gauge. http://dieselmanor.com/diy/PSD3-gauge/PSD73gauge-p1.htm Here's a link, check out picture 13 and 14.

Thanks, also would it be safe to tap into the MAP sensor hose for the boost gauge?
Thats what i did, But I don't have an intercooler spyder to tap into like you do. Check the second page of my link to see a picture of tapping the spyder.

Pic. no. 19 was exactly what i was looking to do as far as installation of the sending unit,

How far west of Leander? And I appreciate the offer but my garage should suffice for the gauge install, however if your shops got a lift I might send u a PM when I get around to doing an exhaust on my truck.
