I acquired (actually traded) a new crew cab that I'll talk about later, but for now....
I'm trying to figure out if i can put a big round air filter in place of the factory air box on my 460 EFI.
Are there going to be issues with the MAFS? I was searching through the 460 Ford Forum website and they say that you cant just put a different filter assembly in place of the old one. There are too many issues, things i've never heard of.
What are your opinions on this?
I bought a K&N clamp-on filter with a 4" inlet.

I already posted this in the Air Intake forum with no response.
Banks makes what they call a "ram air" intake. As for putting a round air filter on, no you cant. you have 2 intake tubes, the round filters only have a single tube. A K&N, GREEN what ever will flow better than the original paper filter.

Cut out the "HORNS" and that will help too
Since the OP mentioned a MAF sensor, I'd bet he has a California truck which uses a single tube.
For some reason our faithful leaders have disabled me to post attatchment in threads, therefore i attempted to put it in my signature, but that didn't turn out well. if you would please, go to my "460 Intake" album. There you will find modified pictures of what i am getting at. Thanks
I wouldn't use an oiled filter with a MAF. I would suggest AEM or AFE dry flow filters. Better yet just get an oversized paper one with more surface area like the diesel guys do.

Please explain why not oiled filter.
i'm definitely not going with an oversized paper filter. Had that on my PSD, and not impressed. Cold air intake best on diesel. Anyway, another story.
