Anybody remember that roof mounted lighting system that looked something like a police light bar with the streamlined plastic housing all around it? I remember seeing it in offroad magazines years ago but have not seen anything like it since. An old friend of the family has an Expedition he wants to put something on and damned if I can remember who made it.
I remember the older version of that, that had regular lights in it and it was all clear with no black on it. I saw a few 80s-90s monster trucks that had it.
that LED system is freaking sick....the price tag makes me sick though...
i wonder how well they work?
On the dash of the Pete I have a 1/2white-1/2 amber LED mini bar, similar to the one there only it blinks thru various flash patterns. Right after I got it we did some extreme oversize movements at night (just a hair under 20ft wide) that the po-po was in a mood to 'git er done' if you get my drift (if I recall correctly the conversation was along the lines of me:"how fast are we gonna run?" po-po "how fast can that thing go?" me: "uh it can bury the speedo at 85+" po-po "works for me") anyways, on the interstate, with my brother running pilot car between me and the po-po, it rolled thru the patterns into "california mode" and lit the white steady while flashing the amber, and proceeded to blind my brother in his 99 F350 SD crew cab diesel with a topper on the back, tinted windows on the topper and the back of the p/u. His SD was lit up bright as day and he was on the radio at me to change the d*mn flash pattern! LOL
If you look at this vid, around 3:45 you can see when I cut the dash light on, the white illuminates real well!!
I think The Virginia Giant had it back in the 80s and early 90s. If so this is the original one. If I remember right, I think sometimes it was all clear and sometimes it had blue lenses or something like that.
