just put in a new engine and got it running, tried to drive it today and it doesnt want to go.
I put the truck in drive and it wont go then if press the gas down 2 out of 10 times it will lurch forward then stop. Is my trans bad? did i put the TC in wrong, I have no clue i hoping i just forgot to hook something up any help is greatly appreciated
I assume it was ok before you swapped motors...Not really much on a C6. Did the converter seem the same when you bolted it back up? Distance from the flex plate etc.
I never saw it run before but the guy i bought it off of the PO didnt say anything thing about trans problems and he didn't know enough to know to lie. when i put the TC in i went in as far as i could put it in ( twisting and pushing) it felt like it slipped into 3 "levels". Theres no grinding or any "bad" sounds it just isnt engaging
what do you mean the same? I hooked p the linkage and it seems like it is going into gear but i dont really know
I went out and tried again and it wont move until its at a certain rpm (I dont have a tac) and once you let off the gas it wont drive/ reverse again. I was also thinking could there be something wrong i wth that vacuum line that goes from the IP
The vacuum line would effect shifting but I think it should pull.....Have you let it run awhile a heat up? When it does pull will go ahead and move or just try?
Let the trans heat up. If there is a valve in the body stuck it may free up. Being warm may help. Allot of parts in there that heat will swell up....It does have the correct dipstick in it so the fluid level is right?...Automatics don't like to sit. O rings get dry and when they are called upon to do what they are supposed to do they crack. Hope it gets happy for ya.
What is your fluid level? If you removed the torque converter, there will be air in the system that needs to purge. The proper way is to shift the lever through each of the sectors leaving it in each position for at least 2 seconds. Do this several times and recheck the level of the fluid adding if needed.
It *should* wake up after a few sweeps through the shift quadrant in this manner.
Having said that, when I removed my C6 even without pulling the torque converter off, it took almost a full day to clear itself completely and I had the odd 2nd gear start from a stoplight.
so does what i'm describing sound like air in the system to you guys then if so that bring up my spirit i just got more trans fluid so i'll go and run through the sectors and leave it running for a bit and check back in in a bit
