I am looking to eventually pull the 390 out and put a diesel in. I am not looking to build a hot rod just a classic that gets good mpgs and can still haul and tear up the road if my foot feel heavy. I was thinking a cummins 6 cyl from a bread truck. Any suggestions? What would be the best engine for what I am looking to do? I would like a diesel that has aftermarket parts as well as oem replacement parts that are readily available. I was also thinking Cat, but I have never really heard of them being used other than in heavy machinery. Thanks for any info.
