Had a good run with my stock turbo so I and can't complain. Loaded up my SCT File today for a fellow FTE member since he had never driven a tuned truck and the carnage began... 2 Hours from home but made it back. Garrett Powermax here I come...
Nothing to be sorry about, I have abused the stock turbo for sometime. When I get a break I'll tear into it, want to do a few other things while I'm in there. So I have plenty of time to decide.
Ever run an aluminum screen door through a table saw, just about what it sounded like....
I've operated heavy equipment when the turbo went bad. Screams like hell and white smoke out the exhaust. One time it was a new John Deere paddle wheel scraper. I ran it long enough to empty the can and shut it off. It put out so much smoke the people who lived across the street called the fire dept!
john I hate to find out what tune you are running my seems to work fine (for now), other then it like to stick on the low side from time to time.
I think Im gonna be swiching to the 07 turbo soon.
Would someone like to go through the above turbo list and note which one has the neat coating on it to control rust in the turbo?
Thanks
I think that's just Steve's list where he was comparing prices on the 04-07 powermax turbo, all of which have an additional clearance machined in the housing to help prevent vanes sticking. I don't know of any garrett applied coating. They say doing so will void the warranty--the coating subject came up in another forum.

Hey thanks there --- I was under the impression that Ford's latest PN has the coating.
