What are the benifits of the camper package on the 2011. I am looking to get a gas one and plan to pull a travel trailer. Is it worth the extra money. Looks like it only gives you upgraded front shocks. Is that correct?
camper package 471 includes the extra heavy service front springs and a rear stabilizer bar (srw only) and rear auxiliary springs on the 250... I just got my custom built F250 yesterday and I plan on putting a GW1800 in the back of the 8;' bed and a 26' TT behind.. I also got the gas engine, back up sensors, camera, with extended cab and power mirrors it is the perfect truck to tow.. I've always had a F150 and i wore it out!! and this truck is nothing but BIG! Love it! also i set up my equilizer hitch today and it was about 1 1/2 inches higher then the F150..also i got the standard 17 inch tires.. they are big.. 80 psi!
2011 F250 Lariat, 4x4, Extended Cab, 6.2L Gas, Curt 20K Fifth Wheel; I didn't see enough in the camper package over above the 9400# tow package on the truck I bought. Our previous trailer was a 27ft TT (4501#) and I pulled it to Iowa from Kentucky with truck, barely knew it was behind the truck except when I ran into some wind gust. Our new trailer is a 30ft Sundance 5th Wheel unit. If you happen to be interested I've uploaded how the 5th wheel looks in the bed of the truck.
I did not order the camper package. Did not think you got anything worth the money. I did get the FX4. Did not get the camera, now second guessing myself on that one. Where is the screen for the camera on the XLT? Since you can't get the touch screen with the XLT? The mirrors were a must after I test drove a truck with them and went through a bank drive-thru and then a drive up ATM. Without folding them in you would have to get out of the truck.

The back up camera screen is on the left side of the rear view mirror, for trucks without the touchscreen nav.
My F250 order is not in yet but I strongly considered adding the camper package. I backed off on it after getting some input on this site. The swaybar is nice but the heavier duty spring setup might make the truck a tad stiff when it's not under load and if you are not planning on putting a camper actually in the truck bed you probably don't need this stiffer configuration. Afterall it's a 3/4 ton truck and is setup fairly heavy with the standard springs. If anything, I can add an after-market swaybar. The cost of the option was not a problem.
Get the camper package, it is well worth the money. Your truck will ride fine and it will be appreciated when you do haul anything. I've had it on my last 2 trucks (350 then a 250) and am second guessing why I didn't get it on my new 2011 F-250.

When I did my initial inquiry on this topic, I get more nays for the camper package than yeas.
I guess I should have asked this question before I order my truck. This site has a lot of info out there, wish I found it sooner. Like I said, I did not order it. It seems to be a mix of yes and no's. But I'm not going to worry about it since I can't change the order now.
Depending on when you placed your order, you can still make changes to it (even after it's been submitted up to X amount of days) but in my opinion, if you're not using a cab over camper, you don't need the camper pkg.
No camper pkg on my truck and am planning on adding a 14k 5er behind it this year...
I had it on my 01 F350. There wasn't noticeable difference in unloaded ride. Helped out a lot loaded--but I actually put a slide-in camper in my truck. And some over fairly large loads
If you can change your order you really should get it. It cost pocket change compared to the rest of the truck, it can only help hauling or pulling, and you get a cool certificate in the glovebox that tells you that your truck in camper certified (think: resell $$)
