Best theft protection

Hi all, recently bought an '01 F250, crew cab 4x4, diesel.
What are the best ways to help prevent theft of the truck? Specific brands of alarms would be great. Do clubs still help?

Thanks.
trekbasso.

I have a Viper alarm which has a useful feature. The remote will vibrate or buzz to let me know if the alarm has been tripped. The range is up to a mile. Useful if your in a store or even at home. Its difficult to hear the new alarms with decible restrictions.
Lojac is also good.
Smith and Wesson as mentioned could be useful .

Looks like a Smith and Wesson 1911 from their performance center to me.

You should check out a Ravelco. It is supposed to be one great system.

There are a few FTE members who have it.

An 120 lb. german shepard works good for me, he lets me know when anyone even gets near our property. I also have the anti-theft alarm system from ford and the pats system. A flashing red light on the dash deters some as well, it lets them know there is an alarm system and they may move on to an easier target.

Yeah Dixie, I thought it was a Smith logo, and I know there are many people copying the 1911's, but I didn't now S&W did. They did a nice job. I bet the Colt Custom Shop isn't happy about that one!

My mechanic sent me to a stereo/alarm shop where they stuck a tiny, ultra-thin switch under the carpet - it's absolutely invisible, and wired into the starter circuit. I have to be turning the key and pressing on a certain spot on the carpet to start the truck. There is also a provision for bypassing the switch so anybody else (like a parking valet for example) can start it normally. Simple and cheap.
