Hey Trey, was it a trooper? I had one give me a ticket on Friday for following too close to a tractor trailer. He asked me what I was doing and I told him I was drafting trying to save gas. He said that it's unsafe and I replied " If he decides to back up doing 65". I probably shouldn't got smart with him, but I don't react well when anyone comes at me acting all alpha-male like. He didn't write me a ticket for not having a front license plate and was normal after coming back with the ticket, so I didn't say one word after that. I generally support, appreciate and respect most law enforcement. Most of them don't make crap for what they have to deal with. State Troopers on the other hand, they generally just do traffic enforcement which puts me at odds with them. I'm burnt out dealing with troopers because they're always pulling me over because I haul hazardous materials and it seems like you can't go ten miles anywhere in Texas without seeing one. I'm starting to feel like we're living in a "police state" around here. I would be as supportive for Troopers as I am for other law enforcement if they would just cut some breaks when due. Not every infraction needs to be a ticket! Just pull people over, make sure they're not wanted and if they didn't do anything too bad, give them a warning and let them on their way. I'm sure most people learned from their mistake.
In case I'm coming off like I get a lot of tickets. In the last seven years I've gotten a ticket for not wearing my seat belt correctly by a Trooper four years ago and the one last friday. That's saying a lot because I drive for a living and get pulled over about once a month for road side inspection....
woody, i drive for a livin as well. i work for halliburton. i JUST got my CDL the first week of last month, and turn around and already have a ticket. thats already two movin vehicle violations this year. unless, (please God) seat belt tickets are a non-movin violation??
