My brother bought a 2002 F350 psd and had an intermittant stopping. After a week it stayed stopped. Problem was a cam sensor failure. He also had a problem with excessive oil consumption. Ford service rep tried to blow smoke in his face. Did I mention my brother is a master diesel mechanic? He persisted and they coughed up a new turbo. Seems they had a batch go through the production line with faulty seals. Look in the air pie between the turbo and the inner cooler. If oil is there and the air filter isn't plugged you have a turbo with bad seals.
Your serial number and build date were before the camshaft end play fiasco. These cam position sensors have been a source of problems since the begining. As long as you are under warranty, it will be an annoyance but when your warranty runs out you might want to carry an extra sensor and a 10 mm wrench in your golve box.
Joe should I have A cam sensor with me or is this something that shouldnt go bad? How much are they and were is it? I am still under warranty but Iwho wants to be broke down.
Is there any other info good or bad that showed up with my SN.
Thanks for the help
Bob
