Just drove 600 miles up to Queensland. The rear was packed and I was pulling about a 2000 pound trailer. Cruising on the flats (bit of head wind) I was keeping a constant 750 F. Up some steep hills I was hitting 900-1100 F and holding. One slight hill which went for quiet some time then leveled out and climbed again, I knocked her back to third held at around 40-45 mph and she was holding 1200F.
If I kept it in top gear and held around 55 mph on hills it would reach 1100-1200 easily. How to these temps stack up ??
I am curious as well as to what are the general rules of thumb for how long to hold high egt's? I just installed the mods in signature below, havent towed anything yet, but have hit 1200+ playing around and only held for a second or two, then backed out. Not that I wanna abuse what i got, but would like to know my limitations.
Me four.. I installed a pyro today, floored it at 25 and when I let out at 60, I was pushing 1050 degrees with nothing but a aluminum toolbox and an empty 110 gal transfer tank...
i dont think there is a magic number on how long u can hold it there. i just think its a personal preference. i have hit 1600+ a few times playing with different fuel setups.
Like Andrew said. What mods do you have? your sig does not show what you have so if you are getting close to the 500hp you want the EGT's will start climbing quick if you don't have a way to help control it.
I was driving up a mountain pass in 100 degrees (high summer here down under), EGT pyro in the manifold hit 1300 on the long steep climb. Soon as I topped the climb the EGT fell like a stone
Brian, What tune were you running in. I had to have my tow tune change, from 60 tow to 40 tow. I could hit 1200* or more real easy, I tow a 12,500 lb 5th wheel trailer, With the 40 tow tune It will pull hard all day long and the most I see is 1100* to 1125*. If I go to WOT all bets are off. I love this 40 tow tune.
