How much fuel does it take to pull a sail 80mph?... mileage seems low but you were hustling down the road.

What's your gearing? If you are running 4.10s', I am not sure what is "normal".

As a comparison, we just did a 3,300 mile trip towing a 32' 7000 lb. travel trailer, four of us in the truck, driving between 65 and 70 MPH. We average 11.6 MPGs for the trip. We now have 6000 miles on the truck, so it's hardly broken in.

The truck has 20" wheels and a 3.55 rear.

My F250 w/3.55 gears does this:

200 mile drive, US two lane highways, cruise set to 62, no load, average between 17 and 18 MPG.

With a 16', 18' or 28' enclosed "box" trailer, running mostly interstate I will average anywhere from 9 to 12, depending on winds.

It's not about the weight, it's all in the wind resistance. Headwinds will kill MPG's in these trucks.
