Satellite Radio w/non DVD 6 Disc?

Does anyone know if there is an easy way to add satellite radio to a NON DVD 6 disc changer? I'm hoping a port already exists or can be easily added to the back of the radio, anyone know? I'd prefer not to use a FM station and would like to keep the stock radio. Or am I better off finding a later model factory radio with an aux input? If so, which model years? I'm working on a 2005 Eddie Bauer Excursion w the above mentioned radio. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thank you.

I did it with my 250. It needs to have a sat button and I used a "terk" adapter and xm tuner. I tried swapping the radio into my o4 ex but the dvd wouldnt plat so I stuck with the factory radio and need a new approach for xm.

I just bought myself a Sirius radio for Christmas. I installed it in my Ex last night. Get the FM direct adapter. When running the antenna wire do NOT install it in the center at the back like they tell you as the wire won't reach the radio if you do. Install it at the right rear corner instead. The FM direct adapter plugs into the antenna port on the back of the radio and then the antenna plugs into the adapter. If you have the tools to pull the radio with it is a simple job. Yes you still have to use an FM station but so what , you have 12 presets on your radio that you won't be using anymore anyhow.

I found this CPFD98NAUX3.5 1998-2005 Ford Auxiliary Input Converter Kit w/3.5mm Earphone Jack Connector and already ordered it. I hope to install it this weekend and will report back when I do. Basically this adds an aux port to the factory radio. With it I can use my satellite or an iPod.

BTW, it took one day to get it, super fast service!

It works great, see the link in my previous post if you are interested in adding an aux port to your factory radio. HTH

Hi....I bought the same adapter from logjam. It seems to play my Slacker radio ok, but, I could not finish the install and had to send it back. On my 2005 explorer, w/6cd player, I could not fit the radio back in. The cables, etc. did not allow me to fit the radio back into the dash...there just wasn't enough room. How did you do it? I wasn't prepared to disasemble the entire dash for a "plug and play" application.

The kit uses the CD function. It will play either satellite or CDs without unplugging the aux input. At times I unplug the aux from my sat radio and plug my iPod into it. Only downside is that this kit doesn't charge the iPod. I believe Logjam does sell a kit that charges the iPod but you couldn't run sat radio with it. Make sense?

I do not have the satellite reciever....the radio is satellite ready. This logjam unit uses the sat button on the radio. It has a 24 and 16 pin connection...and this model is for Fords with satellite ready radios. Here is the model number...I was mistaken, I thought the numbers were the same. http://www.logjamelectronics.com/piefrd03nauxs.html

Mine fit no problem but I have an Excursion so I'm sure I have more room behind the radio. Sorry to hear you couldn't get the harness to fit.

You might even try Onlinecarstereo.com - Wholesale Car Audio/Stereo Deals At Bargain Prices

I have found them to have what I have needed and I have ordered from them on numerous occasions with No problems or complaints! They have fast shipping and are easy to contact by phone as well. Thought this might be useful.

Thanks guys...I am looking at the in-line fm adapter. Logjam has no phone support so I am going to call OnlineCarStereo tomorrow. Thanks for the leads and advice!

As a follow-up...I would be real careful ordering from Logjam. I had a very bad experience with them. Read reports at "The Rip-off Report"...I wish I had! Just type in Logjam ...
