Driveability with a spool?

Hey everyone. I plan on putting a decently powerful engine into my 65' f100, looking at a 408w stroker rated for 450hp. Will mate it to a c4 built from monster transmissions. The truck will be a weekend cruiser, possibly taking it to the track sometimes. Is a spool/mini spool feasible? I know cornering is effected, but is it enough to be worried? I have the stock 9" rear end. Thanks for the comments and suggestions.

No it's not streetable. Both tires will spin the same amount, and will jerk the car when trying to make a turn.

Get a good locker or an air locker if you wanna have them locked.

Powertrax makes a nice locker unit that fits inside an open spool. I have one in an 8" Ford and I like it. It clicks around corners which is cool and it really locks up tight when you step on it. A mini-spool fits inside the stock carrier and is a terrible idea for anything but the strip. It's going to chew your tires up and make all kinds of noise going around corners.
The 351W uses the stock small block Ford bell that you'll find on late model 302/5.0 engines and most 289 engines out there (except 1964 and earlier models). It's readily available in the aftermarket.
450hp is tame for a full sized pickup. I hope you aren't disappointed.

Thanks for the posts. Looks like i will be keeping what i have, or maybe the powertrax locker, depending on budget. Think the stock 9" should hold up to 450hp and 400 or so ft lbs torque? Will have th check all the measurements on the diff of course to make sure its right so it doesnt grenade lol. The truck was fitted with a 351w and c4 when i got it, looks like a good kit was used as it wasnt cobbled together, proper engine mounts and trans mount. Will probably use the bell from the original engine setup. As for 450hp, im not looking for pro street performance or anything like that. HP = $$$$, trying to keep within my budget, haha.

I've been driving around with a spool in my '64 for almost a year now without any actual problems. It is kind of annoying at low speeds when you're turning, but otherwise I like knowing it gives me 100% traction...
