Well we made it home, the old girl did great. I had a guy stop me and tried to buy my new slick but I had to turn him down, my wife could not believe it. I will get some picture posted soon and a couple of pictures that have questions with them. I like the ideal of a meet up, I have a couple of things to do before it will pass Texas state inspection. How far away are you guys from Humble, Texas?

I used to live in Humble - Lee Rd. and FM 1960 in Kenswick. Got married in Montgomery Co. courthouse in Conroe (big mistake) by the JP. Those were the days.

On that year truck, that inspection will cost you all of $14.50.

If it made it down here from MO., you should have gone thru an inspection station on the way home and been done (if you had proof of insurance).

Come to think of it, you should have been able to find a decent '66 right here in Texas! Mine was built at the East Grand plant right here in Dallas!

There's two kinds of people out there....those from Texas,
and the rest who wish they were.

Glad they stopped inspecting older vehicles in NC.

If an inspection is required, it must be done to purchase your plate renewal stickers.

I attended a Military Vehicle Preservation Association show at Fair Park a few years back and it featured a tour of the old East Grand Ford plant where military Jeeps were made here in Dallas during WWII.

It is still standing, although it shut down as a Ford plant in 1970, and is now available as warehouse lease space from the Holt-Lunsford Co. and has been renamed City Warehouse.

I found a few shots of it and some others here:
