OFM, Them ol red trucks catch a lot of eyes. I had/have a custom cab like that, had a 390/C-O-M in it, that ol bugger never stopped pulling, I don't care where the needle was.
I pulled the engine because of a wrist pin bushing knock, pulled the truck apart and it has been sitting ever since.
I am going over to my friend’s house he has a lift so that I can get a good look, when I hit a bump in the road I hear this sound and it was driving me nuts on the way home. The truck sets low and my belly set a little high so was not able to get under and see what it was, hopefully it is nothing big.
Well I got her on the lift and not too bad, I need new shocks, the emergency brake line to the driver’s side back rear is almost broken in too, all of my freeze plugs have a small leak and I think that both valve cover gaskets are leaking in the back. I guess I will start saving to rebuild the engine at the end of the year, but I still say for a 45 year old truck she is in great condition and with some TLC now that I own her she will be fine in no time. As far as my plains I will keep restoring her a little at a time and feel lucky that she is now mine.
I was driving by that dealership the other day at 150 and 71 and I saw the old slick sitting there. I stopped and talked to the owner of the dealership about it. He said you had just bought it. "Some guy from TX". Funny, I never thought it'd be a fellow traveler from here. It looked like a pretty nice old slick. You got a pretty good buy too. You're pretty brave for hopping in an old pickup and taking it 900 miles home, but more power to you. Enjoy the truck.
Well I set inside the truck while he was getting the paper work ready and I made her a deal, that if she got me back home with no break downs, that I would spoil he rotten and make her one sharp slick again, she held up her part of the deal now it is my turn.
