im going to be putting a new behind the seat tank in my 69, but i had a few questions. First is there any place besides lmc that has them? their price seems really high, i was thinking napa? Second would i or should i replace the sending unit and or any other parts? Third im guessing its not too hard since its behind the seat?
Thanks in advance.

The fuel tank (DOTZ9002A) has been reproduced only by Blue Oval Truck Parts (located in Anaheim CA, a coupla blocks from Disneyland)...who then sells it to the general public and the other repro parts sellers as well.
If the sending unit is working...why replace it? You will need to replace its cork mounting gasket, because it prolly has shrunken with age.
The same gasket (C1TF9276A) fits all 1961/77 in-cab fuel tanks...as does the sending unit (D7TZ9275G-replaced C1TZ9275K).
The DOTZ9002A fuel tank fits 1961/66 F100/1100's (replaced C1TZ9002K) and 1967/72 F100/750's (except 1970/72 F100's sold new in CA with Evap Emission). It's a 19.5 gallon tank, the original 1961/69 tank was 18 gallons.
What usually goes bad is the sending unit's float (COAZ9202B)...which is made from two pieces of copper soldered together.
Solder breaks down, gas seeps in, float settles to the bottom of the tank.
The float fits ALL 1957/79 FoMoCo Passenger Cars, Trucks, Bronco's & Econolines and is available from Ford...as is the sending unit's gasket.
The sending unit is obsolete, but can be found at Ford Dealer/obsolete parts vendors.
You could get a tank from Dennis carpenter if you don't want to go through LMC napa or other parts stores might be able to get you one I'd call around and get some quotes I got mine from LMC. If your sending unit is old and or in rough shape I'd say replace it at the same time as the tank that way you shouldn't have to mess with it later on replacing the tank is pretty easy and shouldn't take more then acouple hours if your taking your time on it
You could get a tank from Dennis carpenter if you don't want to go through LMC.
Since the tank is onlyreproduced by Blue Oval Truck Parts (who sells it to everyone else), the OP could buy it there.
Blue Oval is located in Anaheim CA, a coupla hundred miles south of Visalia CA (where the OP is located)...while Dennis Carpenter is located 3,000 miles east in Concord NC. LMC is located in Lenexa KS.
The shipping charges will be far cheaper...and the OP has the option of driving to Anaheim to pick up the tank...and mebbe visiting Disneyland at the same time.
I didn't see your post until after I replied once again numberdummy you come through with valuable information and learn me something new like Bill said to go through blue oval since your kind of close to them they will probably have the best deal for you and make a trip out of it to see Disneyland one day I'll make it there
ditto instig8r - I got a clean one for $50 at the Pull-n-Pay. The cool thing is that they have to pull them by law. It was in the bed. All I had to do was look inside it with a flashlight and make sure it was clean.
thanks a lot for all the info guys, since i have no way of getting to Anaheim at the moment im going to check with napa, and if they dont have if ill just order it from blue oval, the over all price is cheaper then i went threw lmc
