I have a 95 F150 that has been sitting in the yard for a little while, when we went to go crank it up the other day, the truck started making weird noises (sounded like belts squealing) and the wiper blades started moving even though they were not on. The dash started smoking and after taking it off we saw that the anti-theft module had caught on fire. Apparently this was not a common part in trucks of this year and we are having trouble finding it.
Has anyone heard of this happening before? Is it a common issue with this year truck that has the anti-theft module? I just want to find out why it is happening so that if we put another one in it doesn't happen again. Thank you!
Is this a Ford system? It could also be a Ford system that has been retro-fitted, the dealers do sell systems to add on. I would look at the wiring to the theft module. If it looks like it was added, I would take it out.
