Piston and rod? Isn't that available as a part?

Did you talk to partsguyed.com?

buy 1 new piston, rod and 1 set of rings. a 4.5" ball hone and a drill your good to go as long as the walls not damaged and you know how to hone a cyclinder.

Thanks for some reason I didnt think a person could buy just one piston w/rings, hopefully the rod is not bent, but if it is I guess I can get one of those too. This will be my first diesel internal work, any surprises I can avoid by using all of your knowledge? Anything I should do while I have the pan off? will change the rear main seal and plan to replace two injectors. I also planned to get stock type head gaskets and bolts since I only really want to remove one head. This is on a 04 e350 with 100k.
