93 Explorer Engine replacement
I have a 93 Explorer with the 4.0L engine that is in need of a new long block. I called the local remanufactured engine dealer in my area for a quote on a new long block. They asked me if the engine was an EGR type or non EGR. I was not sure so I looked in the shop manual as well as on the motor itself. The engine does not appear to have an EGR valve nor do I see a seperate pipe coming off the exhaust system. The shop manual tells me that all 95 and earlier engines have EGR. Could someone tell me how I can verify the presense of EGR or not by VIN or other means? Thanks for your reply.
