Ok just brushing up on what i need. a small medicine dropper for oil removal, thin walled long 10mm socket, pb blaster. am i forgeting anything special? oh and if i spray some pb blaster down onto the gp do i suck that out with the medicine dropper too? thanks just making sure i get this right for this is my first time. i only have to replace 3 gps thankfully and the vc gaskets, one is leaking and one has a connection with a bent pin that wasnt plugging in to the gp connection spot.
yea i could use a few cold ones for this project. i finally got my volt-a-meter working and have one vc off already so im just preparing for final removal.
I did mine and while we are on the subject, what the heck is that bracket around the rear of the VC on the drivers side good for??
oh my god thats a great question. i just removed that vc and was worried about what that bracket was holding up when i took it off but theres nothing around there. maybe heat protectoin for the vc gasket against the up-pipes.?
You shouldn't have to suck the oil out of the cylinder just doing glowplugs. That's a problem when you are pulling out the injectors.
GP's just lossen them up and then a piece of vacuum hose to wiggle them out, or needle nose pliers will work but are a little clumsy and slippery with the oil.
I agree, replace all GP's while you are in there if you can afford it. I only did 4 of mine before and I wish I had done all 8, I think the other 4 are dying on me...
