How does the high pressure cause a decrease in fuel mileage?

Not sure but it might have something to do with how split shot injectors work. Mileage figures on my most recent tank of fuel seems to validate Bob's statement as well.

I can not give you any insight as to the reason why either. No claim to being an injector guru here .... LOL
This just seems to be what many, many Powerstroke owners have reported over the years.
