We got about 13 inches here in Hampton, Va. Very unusual for us. I was off yesterday and had to carry mail in it today. What a fricken PITA. Icy roads and walk ways make for treacherous walking. Anyway, my 2010 Focus is pretty darned good in the snow.
This is my first winter since 1986 that I have been without a 4x4. My 2011 F-150 will be in my driveway long before the next winter sets in.
[QUOTE=powerstroke72;9746603]We ended up with about 8 inches total out here Tim. A lot of it drifted much deeper though. Off topic here but will the USPS let you wear YakTrax on your boots? If so, get a set. We make them standard issue to our folks and they work amazingly well. I know they've saved me from having to fill out worker's comp related paperwork several times: YakTrax
Hey John, I see that Dick's sporting goods caries them. I'm there this weekend to get some.
I gave up on Postal winter boots and I went to Bass pro shop and bought a pair of Rocky insulated hiking boots. They are made out of nylon, have a fantastic tread, are 100% waterproof and are warm as hell. The only problem is they are como. I don't care.
I'll begin shopping for my 2011 very soon. I won't have it before winter's end but it's ok.
Tim there's nothing wrong with a little camo.
I love my Rocky 1000gram Thinsulate hunting boots. I barely have to wear a thick sock with them. They're great. I'll only hunt in Rocky boots.
Tim, I am glad there never was any snow like that during the 3 years I was stationed in the Hampton Roads area. I would not know how to drive in what y'all got this week. Stay warm!

I went back to work Tuesday as I was off on Monday. Before I got to my first delivery point where I had to park my truck, I got the damned thing stuck on the crown of the road. I knew I had a long ahead of me.
Fortunately a young lady came out of her house. She weighed about 100lbs soaking wet. I put her in the cab and I pushed and rocked the truck while she stepped on the gas. We got the truck out and I got a hug. My day got better.
Ok guys, I need your help. My buddy has an 09 150 super cab xlt 4x4 and couldn't get through the snow because he 'says' the truck fell on it's face and wouldn't go. (History here - he had a 97 chebby and I converted him to this Ford and he's telling me "Elwood! This Ford is a piece of chit! It won't get out of its own way!") So I ask you - what the hell is he doing wrong? I mean he was stuck, my superduty got him right out, but he was on flat ground trying to bust a snowdrift in his back yard. When I pulled him out it was a perfect imprint of his truck. He said it just stopped spinning it's tires. Traction control was on - yes. But he doesn't want to turn it off every time. Is there a work around? A way to make this truck drive like a ****ty old Chevy? No, I'm serious. Would it take a chip? Is there a way to eliminate the traction control for good?
It's the damn traction control. Supposedly you can pull the T/C fuse and fix it permanently - I haven't tried it. I just turn it off every time I drive - gets to be a habit.
Studded tires make snow troubles a thing of the past. In new england we have gotten so much snow over the last two weeks. I'd say 3ft in total if not more. More snow on the way tomorrow, and Tuesday. Its never ending this season. My town was paying any abled body man with a shovel $20 an hour to shovel the snow of the schools roofs.
What's this "snow" you speak of? I've never heard of it.
Haha, you can't say this now! The whopping 1-2 inches that fell last night is a lot for Austin. I was interested to see how "Chug" handled the white stuff. It was a bit disappointing that there was so much ice under that snow, so it felt like driving on marbles. I wish I had a limited slip axle because it was difficult to get the truck moving on the slightest incline. Had it been just snow on the ground, surely things would have been easier.
