Funny, you just nailed my situation.

I have a lot of equipment $$$ moving around mounted on it... and I can't have a failure on the road with down time that is billable hours.

In that situation, I would definitely do it the same way. For the average Joe like me, probably overkill.

Same here, the hose turned out fine, the clamp was loose and the hose wasn't fully seated. it hasnt leaked since.

Took a gallon of 50/50 to fill it back up to the proper amount.
My 01 has never had a bad hose, my 99 land cruiser either, my friend has a 93 cummins with no hose leaks either.

I would keep an eye on the thing.

It can be as you said, improper installation

or

a weakened clamp

or...

excess pressure in system.

Just keep an eye on it for a bit.. especially if you are doing heavy hauling / towing

I am and have been watching it like a hawk, everytime i go to drive the truck i check it. everytime i get out of the truck i check it, and i check it even if im just walking past my truck
