egr valve ???
This happens when the cruse is set and I'm pulling a hill traveling at 65. It down shifts the boost goes up to all most 30 psi then the check engine light comes on and the boost goes down. I have cleaned the egr valve. Is it a bad egr ? Any one else have this happen?
When you say you cleaned it, what di dyou do? Did you take it out, blast the hell out of it with brake cleaner or carb cleaner, hit it with a tooth brush and flat head screw driver, and slide the slides up and down to ensure they were not gummed up, and able to move freely?
Put in a brand new one (with the pink dot to denote the upgraded part) from the dealer.
Don't trust eBay EGRs.
Did you completely clean the plenum of carbon?

Side note:
Brake cleaner is no longer recommended -- it will damage the shaft seal.
A trick is that the loose carbon will not be entirely removed from the intake, and can continue to flake off for quite some time.
I believe what I had was carbon particles jamming intake / exhaust valves (and possibly turbo vanes) after a cleaning.
The symptom: 5mph top speed at full throttle!
Solution:
Pull to side of road, engage neutral, rev to 3,000 rpm a few times, and it cleared.
Once you clear the carbon build, you will find that it should not recur.
See my post here as to why older engines can have so much carbon in it:

If you have a grocery getter like application, be sure you "italian tuneup" the engine once a month at least.
WOT driving for a bit.. that is.
