As most of you know I have zero faith in my current transmission, So I'm hoping this issue is normal....
when I leave for work on cold mornings (high 30's low 40's) I drive about 5 miles at 55-65 mph right off the bat. (I would like a longer warm up time, but with straight exhaust, and being at an RV resort........<---neighbors)
I have noticed that the rpms in OD are up for the first 2-3 miles and them return to normal.
Example: Normally (warmed up) rpm's @ 62mph are 2000,
Lately (when cold) at 2000rpm in only going 57 mph, and after 2-3 miles it almost feels like the tc is locking and the rpm's drop back to normal. (couple hundred rpms)
Is this normal, or I experiancing TC slip? I always thought that when In 4th gear the TC was locked
Frank, As best as I can recall mine is 62-63 mph at 2000 RPM cold or totally warm.
I have about 6 miles to drive before I can even go 60 mph. As far as theTC being locked up mine will only lock up above 45 MPH In 80e tune and about 40 MPH in stock tune.
Now I will be driving with one eye on the tach. and the other on the speedo and have a
BIG A$$ wreck. Thanks

Look on the bright side Bob, If you wreck it, I'll buy all the good parts off you.
I have only noticed it on real cold mornings. I start the truck, and within 30 seconds I'm at 60mph.
My TC will lock sooner in 80e than in stock.
In fact, I'm going to have Jody reflash my 80e to stock shift points, and get rid of the TC being locked till 20-25mph. I like the shift points more spread apart....I know, I know Its an economy tune....but I'm not worried about economy. I love the 80hp feel, but I need to find a happy medium between the economy shift points and the tow shift points.
I beleive that would be stock
Frank, Next time we are at a get together we need to drive each others trucks. It looks like we have totally different shift points in 80e and in stock. It would be interesting to see and feel the differences in the two trucks

That's good idea Bob.
I took a drive one day and tried to figure out how different the shift points were from stock, and IIRC 80e shifted up 3-5 mph sooner than "stock". 80t seemed to shift at the stock points until 4th which was up around 50mph.
I did this at moderate throttle (normal driving) More or less pedal and things change one way or the other.
Thats what convinced me to get my 80e changed to "stock" points. I tend to be heavy right footed most of the times, and the early shift aren't agreeing with my driving style. The 80tow shifts are spot on with the exception of 4th.
I want to keep my tow tunes and use them accordingly. (I tow alot)
After the holiday dust settles I'll be calling Jody to explain what I'm looking for, and ask about his 100hp tune. If that is a daily driver tune I may just add it and keep the 80e for snowbird season in Florida.....
No, it is considered a race tune, I hardly ever use it.
10-4, I hardly ever use my 120R (smoke) unless I happen to be sitting at a red light and some urban thugs pull up on the pass side with their windows down. Its my way of saying "I dont want to hear your music"
.....I Know its juvenile, but I have to entertain myself from time to time.
Frank I got 120r and what's sad is I can't tell the difference in power on the top end, in fact my 60 tow feels better throughout the whole pedal. Sorry to the op this is off topic.

Its ok David, I'm the OP... I'm sure they all react different to different tunes. My truck loves the 120 tune. 60 tow is what I usually drive in, it is a great tune.
