Ignition Coil Testing

Can this be done with a multimeter?
What is acceptable?

The truck runs good cold, but 'misses' at operating temperatureat crusing speed, doesn't idle well, but runs fine at WOT.
1971 302.

If you are good at high speed, the coil is probably ok. Some testers used to heat up the coil to test it. I have seen very few bad coils.

Coil specs. @ 75* F

Primary Resistance 1.4 - 1.54 ohms

Secondary Resistance 7600 - 8800 ohms

Ignition Coil Testing

Thanks everybody!

Here's what I got.

Forgive me I don't know which is primary and secondary.

Large Terminal that goes to distributor connected to either of the two smaller identical terminal I got 9.03 Ohms at Operating temperature and 8.54 Ohms when the truck was cool enough to remove the coil from the manifold.

The two smaller terminal connected I got 0.00 Ohms both temperatures and all ranges on the multimeter.

I have a cheap Sears multimeter. I'm taking the coil to work and let one of the electrician check it. If their Fluke confirms my readings is it time to replace the coil?

I return with my tail between my legs!

I guess I'm really getting 9090 Ohms(on a 20K scale).

I moved the scale down on the 0.00 and am now getting 2.2 Ohms.

Nevertheless am I out of spec?
