5 star tuning will have one out soon, im curious what kind of gains there will be.
Several tuners should have one out soon, considering SCT has just updated their software. I know 5 star has their 2.7 liter truck in house, I saw they did a dyno with it. I imagine they might have a 2015 5.0 by now too. Should be interesting with its slight redesign for 2015.
So has anyone started running a TUNE on their 2.7EB?
I would like to get some input and some Doʻs and Donʻts on this matter.
I do want to add more torque, just because.
Lots of folks are running tuned. Mike at 5-star has tunes out for the 2.7L engine.
I have no plans on tuning mine. I spend a bit of time on an Ecoboost forum, and it seems like every week there are a couple guys blowing up their engines. With the exception of one last year, and another one on a completely different forum two years ago, I have not read of someone blowing up a stock engine.
These engines may be a solid design, but they make a LOT of power for their size from the factory. I've seen plenty of folks who tuned their engines and are on the hook for a $12,000 engine replacement. No thanks, my truck moves out just fine.

We appreciate all the feedback. We have tuned quite a few 2.7's with no problems. There are other people out there that are more number driven that might have a bigger chance of damaging engines. We have seen some significant gains in the 2.7L engines over stock. Our main focus is not just safe power and torque but also drive-ability. I assure you we have not "blown up" any engines here but we do offer a warranty for a piece of mind. If anyone has any questions feel free to call us up and ask

Yep, I believe that Mike. I was going to mention that I have yet to hear of anyone blowing an engine with one of your tunes. I'd use one of yours if I were to ever tune my truck.
I have the 5* 87 Octane performance/towing tune on my 3.5 Expedition and while I didn't expect much I was actually shocked at the difference between it and stock. Their warranty sealed the deal. I also have the 93 PT and 93P tunes, and may run them for a while just for kicks, but it's nice to be able to run regular gas in a daily driver..
