Question heater control problems

On my 02 f350 the selector for changing from defrost to vents, and floor only work when the 4wheel drive is selected. I have had manual hubs for 2yrs now and the old lines are pluged by the frame. This is the first year this has happened. The vacuum pump seems to be working it makes noise. I can not figure out why the vent control would only work when in 4wheel drive. I would think there would be more of a loss of vacuum when selecting 4wheel drive.

You might have a broken resivior or faulty pressure sensor. Does the pump run when you first cycle the key? Plug the lines up by the resivior, you can eleminate alot of the plumbing if you just need to control the heater.

Try disconnecting the vacuum line that goes towards the firewall. There should be fitting between the vacuum tank and the firewall.. See if you have vacuum on this line after disconnecting on the tank side. (note: your pump should start up right after disconnecting the line if working properly)..
