i got a 76 f250 4x4 8" lift got the divorced t case. kickin around idea of swapping the D44 Hd in front to D60.....what is the problems that ill run into with it and what dana 60 front end do i need??
also thinkin bout swappin in a D70 into my rear in place of my D60 bc i just got one laying around any thoughts or ideas would be appreciated
As long as the front 60 you get is from a 77.5-79 it will bolt in & now would be the time to put the 77.5-79 f-250 4x4 steering box in too. Don't know what year, style 70 you have but you may have to move the spring pads, shock mounts might be different. The yoke from your old 60 will work on it though. E brake cables should work.
yea i have lift so high pinion will help with the angle right? seen severa d60l at the junk yards here decently priced but how do i tell the difference from high and low pinion when they are still mounted under truck?
ok i can find dana 60's for frontend all day it seems but they are all a little bit different so which ones do i need to swap under a 76 f250 highboy.....its sittin on 37's now it all works good as of now as when wheeling i aint to hard on it. but would like the extra strength out f a dana 60.......
Great looking truck... low pinion has the pinion on the lower half of the pumpkin and high pinion is on the higher half. Your Ford d60's will more than likely be a high pinion... especially if you do as stated above by mark a. I know the 78-79 d60's were kingpen knuckles as well instead of balljoint...
