I'm doing a EGR delete and oil cooler replacement and when I'm in there I cleaned up the turbo whitch brings me to the first question hase any one brocken the bolt for the band clamp around the turbo? Can I replace the clamp or just the bolt?
Question 2. is there a safe (for the engine) way to clean the inside of the intake manifold? I have a parts washer but will the residue or left over cleaner mess up the motor or censers when I put it back together?
Hey fj40 i just finished what you are doing. Put my manifold in my parts for 3 days, took off some but not much. purple power from wallmart works better, or just have it hot tanked. good luck, Hey take your time with turbo plumbing its easy to get leaks. I have got to pull turbo back off , think i have crack in y pipe
ok i'll pick some up and let it soak. and take it to the car wash and high pressure wash it with some degreaser. I'm doing a EGR del. so there should not be any more carbon build up in the plenum.
I took mine with me to the machine shop when I had my heads pressure tested. Find a shop that will hot tank it. The one I used I think even bead blasted it to get it spotless, all for $25!
Since you are doing the EGR delete it shouldn't gunk up again. You might as well have full flow through it.

I broke my turbo clamp last week while cleaning my turbo and just got it in on Wednesday. Heres a pic of the packaging and the part number. It comes with a new clamp and lock nut. Prepare your wallet though $62 for that thing.
