Unknown gadget

I bought a 2001 SD a while back, nice truck. I have an unknown thing velcro'd to the bottom of the dash. It is black plastic, has a thin two-lead wire from it going to a module under the fuse box cover. this module is wired into the ignition switch. I have pictures but can't post them until I get 25 posts...Any was this gizmo is black plastic, about 1/4 inch thick and about 2 inches in diameter, the back is "potted" so it is eletronic in nature. Anybody familiar with aftermarket electronics? Thanks in advance.

Any names or numbers on your mystery box? Can you create a garage here and upload them to that?

My vote goes for an ignition lockout. If we get it right is there a prize?

If you go down to the bottom of the page, and you look at the left hand side, you will see your posting rules. If it says your "[img]" code is on, then you can post pictures. You just have to host them somewhere else. You can even create an album here in your user account. The pic shown here is what mine looks like. You can see that I have over 400 post's, and I can't post attachments. But if I use the [img] brackets, I can post pics all day long. You put your picture link between the [img][/img] brackets, and your pic will show up. Here is how you do it.

It's that easy. You should be able to post pics this way.

Here is what you need to look at on the bottom left. This is what mine looks like.

A trailer brake controller would have a lever on the front to activate the trailer brake and some sort of control to adjust the gain, wouldn't it? At least I have never seen one without these features.

Yeah, I'd guess ignition lockout too. I removed one form my SIL's truck that a previous owner had apparently installed. It had a deactivation key installed, but a broken wire kept his truck from starting. It was made by Locktronics.

Not the best pictures in the world, but you might take a look at this website: https://www.aboutsecurityconcepts.co...lts.asp?Cat=31

OK, thanks for all the help. I loaded two pictures into "my garage" for your enjoyment. I am sure it is some type of ignition interlock but I have no idea who made it or what this thing is.

Here are your pictures Lou. Not sure what that is. We'll bump it back up though...maybe someone will recognize it.
