Quick jy question

I'm out in rocklin Ca. visiting and went to my first pick n pull they had some older ford truck stuff. couple questions
1-dsII modules blue grommets all said WELLS on them not ford- are they any good ? 2-Got a ford map dome light with 3 bulbs - will it work in place of a regular dome light
3-are the window washer pump motors replaceable? I got a tank with washer fluid and coolant overflow one piece.
wanted a spare module ,what else to get, don't have jy's where i live i felt like i was in a candy store. Might try a different jy out here tomorrow Y'all have a great holiday and stay safe.
thanks for any responses

I'd pass and get the Motorcraft ones only (although if it looks like it's been
installed in the truck for a while, it's likely fine).

2-Got a ford map dome light with 3 bulbs - will it work in place of a regular dome light Yes.

Not sure... I tried to extract a pump once from the plastic fluid container and
ended up destroying it (the pump). Lots of stuff - especially plastic - is fragile
on these trucks at this point and breaks easily.

There's a guy out here someplace looking for a 4WD switch from a BW1345
transfer case, you might get some of those and send him one or two just to
be a nice guy.
Extra characters to make the software happy.

Ctubutis is half right with the dome light. The dome part itself will work, but the map lights(the other two bulbs) will not work. The light with the three bulbs is part of the light group option. Your truck with just one bulb does not have this package. Luckily, the light group option is plug and play. You will need to grab the entire light harness from the truck you got the light from that goes from the dome light, through the roof panels, to the driver's side behind the seat, where it plugs into an intermediate harness. As an added bonus, when you get this harness, you will also get the rear cargo light, but you will have to drill a hole in your cab for it to fit.

Hmmm....

Here's a *diagram*:

Here's a view of the side that faces the transmission:

Here's one (allegedly a 1345) in a JY:

There is a single wire that connects to the switch, I forget the size wrench for that switch
but it's fairly big, maybe 7/8"? You can see it there to the left of the drive shaft.

I can look at mine tomorrow morning but I'm guessing it looks like the one above.

The other possibility is gonna be a New Process variant which I believe looks something
like this (NP205):

Or like this (NP208):

Yes, Shaun is right about the need for the wiring harness if you want the little map lights to
also work.

You can use washer pumps out of 1980-96 trucks. If you're careful or lucky you can extract the old pump in one piece. There should be a retaining washer, pull that out. They usually break, so grab an extra at the JY. The reservoirs are pretty fragile and if you try to pry the pump out with too much force, you'll crack it. I've changed quite a few of these and had the pumps come apart on me, but you can still get them out with patience.

I think I noticed that transfer case in the diagram lying on the ground under a truck i'ed say a 86 or so. I'll see what i can do . I guess I'll go back to the same yard and try and get that dome light wire harness and see if i can get the switch out I didn't bring my tools with me on the plane but maybe they will loan me a wrench. It looks like on the diagram that the switch is is on the back side near the rear drive shaft yoke no number. If the tag is still on the case will it say if it"s the BW-1345 it looked like the one in the diagram . Dose he still need one?. I'll try to PM him
dose the NP-208 have the same switch ?
thanks

I don't know if the NP switches are the same or not but I'd guess not; I don't remember
what those tags say but it's probably nothing that means anything to the naked eye.. I
would look for a ribbed case.

Quite honestly, there probably aren't many transfer case variants in this year range but
those transfer cases were used in vehicles besides Fords and more than 80-86 so you
might just happen upon one from a different truck.

Thanks for helping!!! rep points if I can....

Pm sent to iron1951 . He mentioned a threaded stud I'll look for one that has it. That pic looked like it had a lock plug connector. If he still needs one and gets back to me before i leave I'ed be happy to help. I'll be going home on the 29th.

Not sure if you've been out to the junkyard yet, but the best way i've found to get that harness is by pulling it down from behind the seat. Those little black plastic things that the dome/map light screws to are the source of electricity for the light. They are very fragile, so be very careful. To remove them, you have to pull the wire end down towards the floor, so that the wire end is facing the floor. Then, they should come right out. You'll then need to unscrew the cargo light if it's there, and twist the socket from the light. Next un plug the connector behind the seat, that's by the seat belt bolt. You'll also need to unscrew the ground wire bolt. Once you have this done, the harness should be free, and you should be able to pull it out. Technically, you can pull the harness out through the bottom behind the seat, or you can pull it through the dome light hole. However, I always have the best luck pulling through from behind the seat. Good luck man! If you get frustrated, I may have one in the shop you can have.

Is there always a hot for the map lights and the dome is the light switch i would think.
There were four trucks there with the harness I'll bet i can get one out in good shape.

Yes, the map lights are always hot. They have their own separate wire from the dome light. The current harness in your truck only has one wire. Also, when you go to put in the new harness, you can tie it to your current harness and use the old harness to fish the new one through when you pull the old harness out. A coat hanger works pretty good too, but make sure you completely bend it out straight so it doesn't catch.
