Did this motor come with a turbo cause from what i read it doesnt but mine has one and its all nicely put in and stuff with a nifty airbox that even says "turbo" on it. Its driving me insane cause im trying to get baseline hp and torque specs but cant find anything with turbo specs

No, this engine did not originally come with a turbo. But as soon as they started making them, the aftermarket made turbo kits for them. The only engine similiar to yours that was turbo from the factory was in 1994, and it was a 7.3 that is very much related to your engine.

Ya i read the 6.9 is the 7.3's dad so i guess that makes sense that you would be able to do a swap which is what im presumming happened...so my next question anyone happen to have a turbo 6.9 and have it dynoed or a good guestimate of hp and ftlb ratings

Most turbo kits gave about 50hp over stock. If I remember right, stock you are somewhere around 160hp-175hp, so you more than likely are around 210hp-225hp.

If you bought this truck looking to join into the diesel horsepower wars, you bought the wrong truck. These engines are good reliable work horses that will give you good service, but the newer diesels will always pass you on a hill, and there is not much you can do about it, there is not much aftermarket stuff for this engine. Just drive it and enjoy the reliability.
