Has anyone every sprayed rust bullet, and then sprayed or rolled and overcoat for the undercarriage and wheel wells? Presently I have hardly any rust issues, and the ones I have aren't serious. I plan to underline the truck with herculiner but I have heard that the coating can get ripped upon and water trapped in, anyone know?
When I restore my F250, I plan on coating EVERYTHING with Line-X bed liner stuff, i've heard so many great things about and it's good for that!
My rust free low mileage '89 is mint, no rust, and I wanna keep it that way, so for now I sprayed everywhere underneath some Rubberized Undercoating in a spray can, and lots of it. So far so good, I washed the entire truck and underneath last weekend to get all the salt off, and still looks great.
I good thing to think about is long wide mud flaps witch i've installed on mine. Prevents crap from sticking everywhere underneath, especially in the corners and on that infamous "salf catching lip". Also important to put some in the back to save your bumper!
Yeah the front and rear bumpers are going to be powdercoated black by Proline, winch front and rear. I think that powdercoating is pretty good but I have to look for some bitchin mud flaps . I appreciate the advice! I am going to do similar, I may hit it will air compressor, wash it and then air it again throw rust preventer into primer and then throw on some underline, or maybe not as it still has factory undercoating.
Undercoating is a bad idea. It starts to peal loose and then traps moisture against the body and the rot begins. I have seen more vehicle w rotted floors due to undercoat. I almost cried undercoating NEW cars at the dealer. But some people have it in their head that it works
All you need is a quality paint. Pay extra attention to seams
My 1981 had/has a dealer undercoating. They sprayed the bottom of the hood, the inner fenders, the firewall, underneath the cab, the underneath the bed, etc...
It's been peeling for awhile and looks like crap really. So I have to agree with Diesel-Brad.
