Ok my question is will my block heater work woth only one square prong and the round one? because yesterday i went to plug it in and found one of the square prongs from the plug-in in my extension cord. so i was wondering if it still might work or will i have to get a new one? and where can i get a new one if need be. thanks, blake.
No, maybe....and then maybe a quick FLASH!... and go to a hardware store and pic up a "cord end" plug, with ground lug..rated at 15 amps should be good.
Best thing to do is cut of the old plug and replace it with a new one. If you "need it today" the generic one from the hardware store will work. The best approach is to get a "weather-tight" one from an electrical supply house.
yea i just got the same advice from my dad. i guess the same thing happened on his old cc psd so he just cut the old one off and put a new on so i think i might just do that. easier and a lot cheaper and water-proof. thanks guys saves me money and time again.
Question? Where should the block heater cord actually belong? Mine just hangs under the left front. I can't believe they are s'posed to just hang in the elements like that.
its should be inside the bumper. there should be a piece of hard rubber i think it is going from the bottom of the radiator, IIRC, to the bumper to give u a place to hang the cord. atleast thats what i have.
i shove mine in the air duct over the left battery when im not usin it. i need to replace the plug end on mine too. not broke yet but some green corrosion goin on there. you know its drawing some amps when the extension cord melts a line in the snow around it. not warm enough to feel warm to the touch but definitly warmer than the snow

yea i had to start using a thicker guage extension cord cause the smaller one i was using got kinda warm. u could zip tie it up to the bumper or near it.
