Thinking about a project

I am thinking about starting a restoration next winter. I am thinking - reg cab, long bed, std trans, 4x4, I like the '73 to '79 body style in particular. I have read that the '77's and up have a better radiator support or something like that, is this true? As far as a truck of this style, what would be the best year to start looking for? Is there really that much difference since parts are exchangable? All opinions and ideas are greatly appriciated. Thanks Dustin

78 @ 79's have the best steering setup IMHO. As far as rad supports they are all interchangeable as with body parts. The only thing that really changed was the grill and surround. If you choose to use a 73- pre 77 1/2 highboy (stock lift ) just remeber when getting bumpers and hitches the rear frame is 34" 77 1/2-79's are 38"
