Power Fold mirrors on excursion??

Im fairly well versed in electronics, but curious if anyone has had any luck with hooking up the 08+ Trailer Tow mirrors on an Ex with Power Fold???

Im really just getting too lazy and tired of walking out and folding them in when Im out LOL. Checked Parts Guy Ed's site and all he listed was non power folds.

I've read that there is a really good write up in the Super Duty section. I haven't read the write up yet, but will be soon.

I wonder if the power fold mirrors from a Chevy Tahoe might be able to be made to work?

loom, modules, switches, relays and the price of just the mirrors makes it so cost prohibitive, then there is no guarantee it would work. I've tried to look up these parts but was unable to confirm I got everything there was to make it work, but I'm not able to be 100% sure so I can/will not sell the parts.

Yep, been there done that. When I saw a comparison with the other tow mirrors I knew that is what I needed. Then the fact of having to walk around all the time to fold in the 08 mirrors I knew that the first and only time I was gonna do it right the first time. I'm not electrically inclined, but enjoy working things out and this was not so bad. Now over a yr ago so I don't have any of the pin outs any more, but all info is in the super forum under 08 mirrors. I even swapped the wires inside the mirror to fix the adjust left, right issues. I have pictures in my album showing the switches I used. You will need momentary on/off/on that are reverse polarity to make it work. I even added lights and signal to them as that was not stock on my rig. I'm running late now for work, and mobile so I will catch up latter for other questions.

You need to hook in a Momentary DPDT-CO (Double Pole, Double Throw, Center Off) switch to pins 2 & 3 (Purple w/ Yellow Stripe and Purple w/ Grey Stripe).

The wires to the mirror's fold motor go to the center terminals and the fused power and ground go to the outside terminals with a cross-over to the other outside terminals.

Here is a diagram.

It is basically the same for power telescope except you use pins 1 & 22 (Orange and Orange w/ Blue Stripe) so one swtch for fold and one for telescope.

Awesome! I will do it next then too. Ed could be a lot of sales here. If you can post the costs so we have an idea that would help.

This is next years Christmas. At work, I drive an 08 450 and love the mirrors so much because I have all of the usable mirror size compared to the old style.

Ed, are these for the newer 09 mirrors? As I recall the newer ones have the heat on both the mirrors, where as the 08 only on the top mirror. Correct.
