Billet Grille

Has anyone bought a grille insert yet? I was looking at the T-Rex and wanted to see if anyone had put one on yet and what they thought of it?

I put on the Bumper Grille, between the tow hooks. Mainly to protect the lower radiator as I do not advertise for the car dealer and removed the front license plate holder.

I put on a CARRIAGE WORKS billet accessory, paid $130.00. I am not sure if I want the big billet grille as I truthfully like the 2011 grille better.

In retrospect, I think I would have bot the black bumper grille as the polished grille really does not look that good, like one bulb on a Christmas tree, IMHO...

What I am looking for is the 4pc set that goes with the grille along with the bottom piece. Can you leave the license plate holder on with the lower part? I would rather not keep it but I live in a state that requires it (been pulled over before!!). I have had these on prior trucks but I hate to buy something sight unseen.

My system required the license plate holder to come off.

My 09 billet grille also required the license plate holder to come off. I left it on, and just trimmed the black plastic nubs the screws screwed into. Now the billet grille is in, and my plate is still on.

So, with the grille insert, does the whole grille have to come off, or is it possible to replace with the grill in place? Would love to see a picture of somebody with one. Was thinking of getting one myself.

The grille comes off in 60 seconds. Very cool design.

The one I am looking at does not require taking off the grille but there are some that replace the whole grille. Take a look at T-rex Billet grilles for pictures.

I wouldn't mind knowing about other possible grill replacements. The last models were not quite so pronounced....which was better IMHO. The billet doesn't do it for me. But having something down low to protect does seem like a good idea.

I'm trying to decide which look I want - in the past I've always gone for billet but the factory grilles have gotten alot nicer. If I do it will be be the full one piece T Rex. I would like to make Ford emblem in matching black (instead of blue) but the company online that does it says you can't alter these new ones.

Unfortunately most the alternatives ( my favorite being Trenz) have gone out of business.
