Nice to see the galleries are back. Anyway, my blowere motor is on the fritz, I have power to it but it only works occasionally - pointers on changing it (A/C truck)?
I still have outside air coming into the cab through the vent box (the one with the door) on the passenger side. Might break down and take it to a mechanic, it's been doing this for 2 years now and I'm sick of it. The only thing that stops it is to close the vent door but then I lose all air (heat included) into the cab.
No one seems to know what's going on w/problem # 2, but if you could offer pointers on problem # 1 that would be appreciate.d
I'm not 100% sure but it was my understanding that the air passing through the vent opening on the passenger side below the glove box has not been through the heater core yet so it won't be heated.
My '77' F-250 has a spring behind the door to hold it both open and closed. The door has a foam strip about 1/2" around the edge to keep the air from sneaking through. I have not had problems with air getting through.
I will investigate further and let you know what I find.
The air is getting through the door a little bit. What really sucks is that the air is coming out an openning in the vent that has some wires going into it (I presume they are for the blower motor). If I hold the door closed, the air stops. Unfortunately, the heater stops pushing air as well.
I had a problem with the Defroster/Heater bypass in the past. The arm which comes out of the heater box, which operates the internal flap to change between OFF/Heater/Defroster, had gotten bent and I was not able to go the full range for my defroster. I was able bend the arm back and adjust the cable to get the full range back.
This may not be your problem but it may be another place to look.
You may want to check to make sure the cowling isn't plugged with leaves or other junk.Sounds like the blower motor is searching for air to pull, maybe it is pulling your vent door open to get air into the housing.Just a thought. John
