hey guys just a quick question here I have a 77 f250 and i have noticed that my dash lights and my normal lights all kinda flicker and I put new terminal wires on it the other day but that hasn't seemed to help any ideas?
Are the turn signals slower or faster than normal when blinking? That, along with what you describe indicate a rusted ground. I'd find the grounds, and wirebrush them clean. Particularly the negative cable to the engine block. If nothing else, that will eliminate some of the possibilities.
Can't remember what year they changed to a solid state voltage regulator. If it's the old style, that is a common occurence with them. Maybe someone knows when they changed.
I just solved that same problem with my 77 f-100. After checking or replacing many items, and cleaning grounds. It ended up with a lose connection on the taillight, everything works fine now.
I had somewhat the same issues. I cured it by installing some extra ground wires. I ran one from the engine block to the frame and one from the frame to the cab sheet metal. I used a good heavy one (same size as the battery cables) for the one from the block to the frame and a 12ga. from the frame to the cab. It cured my gremlins. After 30+ years everything gets kinda rusty on these old trucks and the extra grounding did the trick. I have thought about running a 12ga. from the frame to the bed as well but havent done it yet.
