Okay so here it is trying to figure if the head, or the block is cracked on my 300-I-6. Im getting coolant into the number 3 cyc. But Its not getting coolant( water) in the oil.I would like to go ahead and have a new head ready to install before I pull this one off again. ( little down time as possible ) Past experince with this problem on other engines, diesels,V-motors, when ever its been head gaskets or cracked heads I have always had water in the oil and oil in the water. Am I right in thinking that with this inline 6 the way the water jacket is set up that if the block was cracked I should be getting water in the oil? but since its not the crack should be in the head. ( already replaced head gasket). Right now as long as I run with the lever on the rad cap up it dosent display any problems any thoughts or suggestions on wich one ? or am I wrong all together? Thanks in advance.
I think usually if the head gasket is blown in leaks into the back cylinders, because they are the hottest. Based upon your radiator cap claim it would appear that as long as the pressure is minimized it won't over heat is this correct? I personally would except a hair line crack in the block.
correct but it dosent over heat even when the system is at normal pressure. It starts to steam out tailpipe and foul the plug only after the engine runs long enough to reach normal temp.
