Hey guys, just a quick note to say I'm here. This forum seems like a great place. I've actually been a member since 2007 but I sold my 71 F100 before I ever posted anything. Last weekend though I brought home my new baby, a somewhat worse for wear 1956 F100 Custom Cab. This truck was an old hotrod and got parked about 20 years ago. It has a 289/C4 and a 9" rear from a 72. The front is lowered old school with a Mordrop axle. It has the drum brakes all around and needs a lot of love. I did get several shiny bits with it but it'll be quite some time before they find their way onto the truck. I do have some so-so doors and a great louvered hood as well. The bed is pretty much toast and the cab is iffy. The tailgate is fairly nice though. My immediate plans are to get this beast running (ran when parked), clean her up a bit this winter and drive it all summer. I'll be making changes and additions as time goes by, eventually my hope is to replicate the Flat and Fabulous 56 F100, more or less. My wife and I will be doing most the work. I'm not a complete noob to the hobby but some of my technical skills need some polishing. Anyway, glad to be here! More pictures in my gallery.

Welcome to the forum, looks like you have yourself a nice project. Just checked out your gallery and the truck looks to be in fairly good condition. Keep us posted on your progress.
Wow, thanks guys! It's great to be a part of such an awesome community. The truck is drying out now, slowly and I've been taking stock of what I need to do There is rust (of course) to deal with in a few areas.
The rear cab corners were "repaired" many moons ago but they look like they'll need replacing at some point. The front corners are in dire need of assistance, they are full of expanding foam! The cab floor is pretty good with the exception of a small glassed in patch near the dimmer switch and around the passenger front cab mount. The drip rail has some pin hole issues unfortunately. The fenders are passable, I will need some running boards.
The good news is that I popped off the valve covers, spark plugs and the carb and the motor looks very clean inside. Remember this supposedly will run! I've got to buy all the electrical stuff, battery, coil, wires, new plugs, maybe a distributor, empty out the gas tank, replace the coolant and water pump (water pump was leakng when I turned it over) before I'm ready to give this a shot. I'll keep you all posted on how it goes!
Meantime, new pictures in my gallery shortly. Thanks again for the warm welcome!
I'll throw a few more pics in the gallery because pictures are good!
