Can a hood from a a pre 73 fit a post 73.
I looking at the 1972 and back hoods and like them more than the 73-79 hoods.
Would also like a 72 grille on my 79 can i change out all the trim for it to fit?
Just wondering.
It can be done. If you read in the 67-72 forums there are people that have used the 79 hood on their style trucks. Someone also posted a photo of the 67 hood on the 79 style truck. Someone else in this forum posted a pic of a 79 with a 69 grille on it.
Some people are using the 73-79 inner fenders and radiator supports on their bumpside trucks due to the abundance of good sheetmetal still found sitting up.
If anyone is interested, The grilles from 72 to 67 are a bolt on deal to our radiator supports. I agree about the hood swap being ugly. I never liked the 67 to 72 hoods. I always wanted to run a 79 style hood on my 67. I think it looks much better. I like the older grilles better than the 79 style.
Anyway, I just bolted my 69 grille to my 79 support. No drilling or cutting required. The headlight buckets are in the grille. You need the metal support that goes between the grille and support and the metal gravel guard between the bumper and grille.
You know...I remember looking at that post and thinking, " that is about the nicest looking bump I have ever seen." Now it makes sense why. On a sidenote, I would love to see somebody section and tuck a front bumper like that on a dent so I can see what it looks like before I do it. LOL
