For all you audiophiles out there, I need an honest opinion. I was thinking of replacing my stock Ford cd player in a 2003 F250SD with a Nakamichi MB75. I think that's the right part number. This is the in-dash cd changer FM tuner. It is a single DIN size. Pretty slick unit I thought. Price is not bad either. Anyone have any opinions on Nakamichi as far as quality and sound reproduction? I'm not too interested in flashy lights and stuff. Gettin' too old for that. I just want some clean, good sound. Probably will mate the head unit to some MB Quarts unless someone knows something better. Not interested in loud booming stuff, just pure quality sound.
You sound like my kinda guy. LOL
I will soon be competing in Sound Quality competitions. (as soon as im done my installation) The MB75 is a very nice cd player for sq and reproduction. It has high quality D/A converters. You will be very pleased with that unit. Just a suggestion, use a good external amplifier if you go with upgraded speakers. It will make a huge difference. I recommend:
Amps:
Diamond Audio
Arc Audio
Zapco
Precision Power
JL Audio
Speakers:
Diamond Audio
MB Quart
DynAudio
Focal
Rainbow
AVI
Thanks for the heads up. Already had that one on the "watch" list. Sold for $350. Good price I thought. Shoulda bought it. Tell me more about Diamond equipment. I wasn't planning on an amp, but if it will enhance sound quality, I guess I can do that. I don't see the point in installing a good head unit and not installing good speakers. Let me know what you think. Remember, this is an 2003 F250SD. Not alot of room.
Well, Diamond Audio amplifiers were actually originally produced by a company called Esoteric Audio. They are now produced by Diamond Audio and are the exact same amplifier internally. Diamond Audio's D7 line of amplifiers are some of the best amps for Sound Quality that money can buy. ( I would put them right up there with ARC Audio, Zapco, McIntosh, etc) They also now produce a less expensive line of amps ( DS).
Smokey, you've piqued my interest. Recommend an amp, head unit, and speakers. I'm too old (35) for the "thump, thump, thump" of the kids subs. I want good clean sound at every volume level. Price is a consideration. The older I get, the more toys I need and the more bills I get. I'm not too familiar with this stuff anymore. Don't know what's good and bad. Don't know much about new amps, speakers, head units, etc. I don't need any flashing lights, neons, motorized faceplates, 1000 watt amps, subs and the like. Thanks for your interest.
Here's an option take a look a massives line of speckers and amp very high quality sound at a good price, or look into CDT Audio they are also very good speckers. WWW.thezeb .com good web site
any one of these units will sound great for the money
