So the other day i pulled up to a stop light and then it hit me. A brand new lexus suv. he rearended me going nearly 20 mph. 10,000$ worth of damage done to the front end of his little lexus. Damage to the BRONCO, 0$ Just thought id share that little story.
I also has a similiar experience! Three days after I bought my truck a 1995 Jeep Grand Cherokee rear ended me going 40 m.p.h.!! After he hit me I went around back to see the damage all I had was a bent tire carrier and a small dent, the size of a dollar bill on my tailgate! Actually i was glad that he rear ended me, I got rid of that awful looking tire carrier an got my whole truck re-painted. i just made the guy pay me $150 bucks on the spot! Now as for his truck, his whole passenger side fender was ripped off and both his headlights were smashed in and his front bumper fell off. Man I feel sorry for that guy!!
same thing happened to me! some rich white boy driving his daddy's lexus hit me in the back going 20-30 mph i was laughing when it happend his whole front end was totaled! he was like DUDE MY DAD IS GONNA KILL ME!!!!!!!!!!!
Well, I can't say I have had anyone rear-end me but I did lend the Bronco to my lil sis to go on a date about two weeks ago...it got icy that night and she slithered into the back end of a 95 Neon...talk about needing a Dodge Joke! I have a license plate step on the front. I had to bend it back with a pliers so it would stay up and display the plate. The Neon needed a new rear bumper, new trunk lid and a new pass. side taillight assy. She hit the Neon with the speedo in the Bronco pegged at "0" it was sliding on the ice at about 3-5mph. No need for jokes about Dodge products....they are laughable all by themselves.
I can really relate to some of these stories because i have been hit a few times in my bronco too.
The first time, i was in my school parking lot behind this benz, and in front of the benz was another bronco. The bronco slammed on brakes and the benz rear ended it at about 15 mph and completely demolished the hood, fenders, lights, bumper, but NO damage was done to the bronco.
Another time, i was taking a left in an intersection when this stupid woman in a CRV pulled out and hit me in my bumper. It completely ripped her light assembly, bumper, and part of her fender off. I got out and noticed that the plastic trim on my bumper was popped out so i just popped it back in and was on my way.
Then there was this one time when my buddy was backing his bronco up at night and thought he hit a curb, so he kept backing up, thinking he could go over it, but the "curb" ended up being a honda crx.... lol. his back wheel was on the roof...

ok, so i've never had a wreck in my Bronco...but I rolled a '85 f150 when I was a sophomore in high school....I had a friend pull it back onto it's wheels and out of the ditch and I continued to use it as a daily driver until the summer after I graduated... The only thing that was messed up (besides a few body pannels--purely cosmetic) was the front end alignment--when the pass. tire was straight, the drivers tire had to be adjusted in 3 inches
Maybe my Bronco isn't as tough, I don't know.
During the summer in my Bronco ('86), I T-boned a Trans Am. I needed a whole new Front Clip (Cost me $550) and the Trans Am needed about $11k in repairs (needed a new door and hatch, probably bent the Unibody too). I hit it at about 20-25MPH, it messed my Bronco up bad though. Besides needing anew clip my frame rails up front were bent. Then a month or two ago I accedently backed into a '76 or so Lincoln, the Lincoln had a huge dent in the drivers side fender (Odd thing about this was, I had my first accedent up there after coming back from Chicago and I had the second one after coming back from Chicago), my Bronco suffered a little damage, it bent the bumper (Not very noticible) down a little bit on the passenger side. I love my Bronco, but I'm hoping that it'll be able to take a hit like some of you guys have experienced. I'm starting to doubt.
Okay , back in 83 I had my first Bronco a 79 I was working 12 hour shifts at the time and I came out to a bent bumper , I was POed big time but it wasn't very noticeable so I wrote it off , 2 days later I come out on a Sat. to a note on the windshield apologizing for leaving the scene and ID etc. phone number etc.
I call the " guy " and she says she was backing up an stepped on the gas instead of brake and hoped I wasn't too angry she'll pay for the damage in cash ( Ins. already too high , no wonder )
then she says she's got est. $2500 damage to bumper , fender , trunk, I looked at the bumper and laughed my A@# off and let her off the hook!! LOVE them BOFs (Big Old FORDS!!!)
I love My current ride to thhe point that I wouldnt want single scratch on it that wasn't there when I bought it, and there werent many, BUT, if the woman came back after a couple of days, and the damage was as minor as you describe, I think In would have let her off too.
I think that true honesty like that needs to be rewarded.
We hit a deer with our 82 about a month ago. Just bounced right off the right front corner of the truck. Maybe that headlight burning out 2 days ago was a result of that.
Years ago I was driving from Los Angeles Ca. to Burns Oregon with my little and big brothers. I had been driving since the beginning and turned off I-5 and got on the 299 Alturas road that snakes inland over the mountains. Well in a very short time the fog got soo thick that I could just make out the white line on the right side of the road just beyond the corner of the hood. Now if anyone has ever driven this little highway you will know that there are some places where you could go off the side and they wouldn't find you unless someone saw it happen or some hunters or low flying aircraft found the wreckage some time later.
Anyway I drove white knuckled in these conditions for another two hours untill it finnally cleared. Cool now I am going to make time, so the big o'l 79 XLT,400m, 41/2 lift with 35" tires is tooling down the road at 75mph indicated which was actually about 85. Have you ever heard the term white line fever? I remember seeing a farm house off the right side of the raod passing in the headlights and the next thing I know ther is this horrendous BANG!!!! I am blinking my eyes[it all seemed like slo=mo] and realize I am up on the RH two wheels, the world is tilted!!!!! I glance in the rearview mirror and my older brother who was laying down in the back is airborne and his eyes are as big as saucers and looking at me in the mirror. I glance at my little brother two the right and he has the same look and is pinned to the door.
Well the o'l Bronc went a good 50 yards or soo at that two wheel attitude and then put her left feet back on the ground. Upon turning around we found I had hit a big dead doe that was laying lengthwise in the left side of the lane. Didn't hurt the rig a bit but I was through driving from that point. I swear I never saw it, my eyes were wide open but after 14 hours in the seat nobody was home. If we had been in our little Nissan or Bronco II we would have had a bad time. I mis that big blue Bronco, all us boys wanted it but pops sold it. Damn,... Long live big Bronco's!!!!!!
