Hey guys, I have a 2008 F-450 4X4 with the standard 19.5 inch tires. The truck seems to wander going down the highway, i.e. the steering wheel seems to have about 1-2 inches of play as you go down the road before it reacts to bringing the truck back on line. Any idea what this is? steering box needs work, power steering pump needs work, loose joints in front, I'm at a loss. Thanks.
The steering box needs to be adjusted or replaced if you have already checked your tie rod ends for slack. How many miles are on the truck, are you still under the 3/36?
Although i would normaly assume that the truck would be low in mileage and not beaten but being the 450 might suspect it has been through some work.
I would investigate your front end first, ball joints, tie-rod ends even check wheel bearings. Could be the pump or box but i wouldn't suspect those first. Also check condition of you tires and shocks.
Yes, out of warranty. I just purchased this King Ranch with 38K on it. The truck looks like new. But it has new front tires on it. So it hasn't been worked but I suspect something because of the new tires. Thanks.
