6.7 in chassis cab

Hi to all, just joined this morning. Don't know if this is the right place to ask my questions, but here goes. I have a F350 dually,diesel,cab/chassis 60" cab to axle on order. Supposed to be built mid Jan to 1st Feb. I am having a aluminum flatbed built with dual underbed toolboxes and 5th wheel hitch mounted. My question is this: I know the turbo is different on the pickup vs cab/chassis. Does this difference alone account for the 100 HP or are there other differences? I was tired of no bed toprail clearance for my 5th wheel, and getting in the bed to get tools out of the toolbox. I have to admit I was shocked to drop 100 HP just to get the conveinence of the flatbed. Hopefully at some point Ford will up the performance a little for the C/C or the aftermarket people will help. Maybe it will be a non-issue as my 33' Alumascape isn't too heavy. I ordered 4.10 LS rearend, and the truck is a Lariat two-wheel drive. I've never really found my 04 Lariat 6.0 SRW pickup to be short on power, just wanted the new truck I guess. Or at least that's what my wife says. I welcome anyone's help and advice.

There will be plenty of power for pulling your fiver. The turbo is different as is some of the engine computer programming. At 300 hp or so you will be down a little power wise from a good performing 6.0. It sure sounds like a nice tow vehicle for what you need.

Merry Christmas

The power loss isn't simply a consequence of the new turbo, it has to do with emissions.

The trucks with a GVWR over 14,000 lbs fall into a different emissions category with different certification requirements. This is what necessitates the different turbo and reduced power rating.

Is it different between all cab/chassis, I thought it only was the 450/550 cc that had the lower hp rating? Other thing is you could do the standard 350 dually with a bed delete and then get the higher hp (assuming they still have that option, they've deleted so many of the fleet type options now).

Well, I don't believe you can get a Lariat with bed delete. Besides, it is so much easier to mount the aluminum flatbed and hitch with the flat frame of chasis cab. It's not impossible to do, just easier the other way. It is also to late to change my mind, my truck will be built soon. I talked to the builders about all this, and made my decision. I guess I'm just sorry to be down 100 hp from the pickup, and just looking for fellow Ford people to tell me I didn't make a horrible mistake. I basically did all this for the ease of getting into the underbody tool boxes and to get more clearance below the 5th wheel. Also, decided to go dually for the first time in my life from SRW. I'm just a little frantic about it all, sure a lot of money. Thanks to all!! One last thing, is this a paper work/federal rating for the chassis cab, or is it real?
