Well Guys, I am due to pickup my new F350 in about 1.5 hours. Went over to look her over in the daylight just before she went into the detail shop for a last minute cleaning.
A question for you. I plan on checking the operation of everything electrical (seats, controversial moonroof, nav, backup camera, etc.). Is there anything you found during your inspection or perhaps after you got it home that you wished you had found at the dealership?
If you paid for the block heater option, make sure the cord is there! A trip to the dealer to remedy this problem is on my list of things to do this Saturday.

Ah yes, the infamous block heater. Added to the list. Thank you.
Nothing for the truck list, but you'll will need to go get a precription for something to get the grin off your face after driving it... Enjoy your new ride and post some pics!

I am hoping for a grin, should help offset the frown from writing a check for more than my first house!
When you discover that you can smoke the tires at will, keep an eye on the rubber. Ford knows that warranty claims on tires are mostly due to us driving around like teenagers with muscle cars so the claims are scrutinized more than they were back in July. (I do recognize that the immaturity I have displayed with my truck is not common among us here and don't take this as an assumption that you'll do it, but it's pretty amazing)
Now for the real stuff: At early product launch for the '11's there was damage during shipment of power steering lines, brake lines, and some cases of external damage due to the rigging to the vehicle (chains and what not to secure the vehicle to it's rail car or car carrier). Initial launch of the 6.7 had a oil line missing to the cooler. I'm sure all this is fixed now though.
yes, take it for a nice drive for serveral miles at 40 to 50 mph to check for an uncontrolled rear end hop.
As you all know, I agree with Champ on this one... except it really is controllable... you just have to drive it less that 39 or more than 46 and there is no bounce... ( I got to laugh, I'm too old to cry about it.)
Champ, good luck tommorow!
Marauder92V, congrats... the wait is almost over... enjoy.
The wait is over, the check has been written and the keys handed over. The only thing remaining to do is to find a way to relax the grin muscles. I promised to post a few pictures once I get my photobucket account set up. So, here are the important answers (in reverse order of posting):
#6: The truck did in fact have a full DEF tank (thank you Rutcutter)
#5: The truck did not have a rear end hop (thank you Thom12 and Champ198 -- I was able to test it from 0 to around 70)
#4: The tires do smoke and I won't do that again -- see previous lesson learned on my Vette with $450 tires (thank you ruschejj)
#3: My face IS really hurting from the grinning (thank you Sportscraft)
#2: The truck really did come with a block heater power cord (thank you 720Deere)
And the most important of them all. Drum roll....
the #1 answer is: YES, the truck makes a noise from the tranny area when you hit the key fob (thank you Epic)!
All I can say is the vehicle is more than I expected. VERY smooth ride, plenty of power and an amazing 17.5 MPG on a mix of highway/city streets (30/70).
I do feel sorry for the sales guy. Apparently there was a $400 price increase and he is going to be blamed for not informing me that I would be required to pay it. In all honesty, the owner okayed the deal from the start and he too never mentioned it to me.
Getting it in the garage was quite a 3 person job. All my worries over the roof lights turned out to be a non issue. The real issue was the stupid antennae! It hits!! I have around 1" clearance on the lights and about 10 inches on the length.
Sorry for the long post -- thanks to all my FTE buddies for providing this information. You saved me an additional $750 with the Ford private cash. Thank you!
