You may hear the vacuum pump on the passenger side firewall. How long it runs will depend on how much vacuum you've lost since you ran it last.
You will hear the fuel pump under the drivers door. It will run for about a minute, I think, then shut off.
You may also hear the ABS module pump run for about a second. This is a test of some sort.
Depending on the PCM software version you have, you may hear the injectors buzz.

I remember when I first got my diesel and heard all that banging and clattering and buzzing for the first time .....I thought I'd bought a lemon and that she was about to explode or implode or something.
